FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How long the whole process will take?
In the case of One to One Coaching it will depend of the areas and goals that you’ve selected to work on.
To clarify, there are simple goals than can be covered in a few sessions and others -as human behavior requires certain time to produce tangible changes- may take longer. Typical assignments take a minimum of 3 months to an average of 6 months’ work.
For Teams, 6-8 team work sessions (we work in the Team regular meetings) allow reaching the aimed goals.
How long a session takes? What I will take out?
A typical session of One to One Coaching takes one hour, but this may vary substantially depending on the Leader situation (in cases we may spend half a day working together).
In Team Coaching we work during the Team’s regular meetings so that will be the reference for our session duration.
In both cases learnings are immediate and both (Leader and Team) commit to certain practices to assimilate their learnings in order to develop desired habits.
How process and interventions are designed?
In Team Coaching and Leading Change I initially meet with the Leader, Sponsor/s and team-members to best understand the goals and potential block roads.
From these meetings we align the goals previous to the design of the process, identify different interventions and KPI’s we want to produce as outcomes. The process may include Team Coaching, individual Coaching, Workshops and Assessments.
Assessments are very important to “ground” our work and have a measure of our progress and impact.
The process in One to One Coaching is very similar with an assessment of our progress at mid-point and end of the process.
What is the difference between One on One and Team Coaching?
The key difference is that in One to One coaching the Leader (as a whole persona) is the center of our attention for behavioral change & development.
In Team Coaching processes, the same team (and not any of its individual members) is our focus. We work on the team dynamics and interrelations, according to the goals we have set.
What type of practices will I be doing and why should I practice?
Reflection (during and after session) is very important but without practice it is very difficult to produce perceptible changes in behavior. Coaching is about practicing desired behaviors.
Practices may entail a range of activities from solo reflection, reading & assimilating new concepts up to rehearse new behaviors in work, family or social environment.
All practices are aimed to produce learning, repeated practice produce habit.
When working with Teams the concept is no different, they practice in their own meetings what they’ve learned in our Team meeting session.
What is the difference between Team Coaching and Process Facilitation?
Team Coaching is a process where we uncover dynamics that are hindering the Team performance and from there we develop practices to change these dynamics, opening other possibilities for the Team or Workgroup.
In Process Facilitation, I support the Team in reaching a business objective that the team has set or want to arrive to.
For example, in an Innovation or Transformation project I work in its different phases with the Team (i.e Alignment and/ or Clarifying the team Charter to have all members row in same direction) for them be efficient and effective in reaching their goals.
